The Hammer and the Honeycomb

Speaker: Kyle Gerber
Our chapels will explore paradoxical descriptions of God's Word in scripture, from the pleasantness of "light" and "sweet as honey from the honeycomb" (Ps. 119:05; Ps. 19:10), to "like fire.. and a hammer" and a "double-edged sword" (Jer. 23:20; Heb. 4:12). In particular, we will explore how the worship arts are an extension of that scriptural function, at once soothing and disrupting us so we may encounter the Living Word.

Worship and Wisdom in the Kingdom of God

Speaker: Kyle Stoltzfus
What's at stake if I choose to live an ordered life, or a disordered one? How do we learn and grow as worshipping beings? Our growth in wisdom, truth, and knowledge are major biblical concerns. Because of that, in these sessions we discuss the roles of vision, time, the Christian heart, and practice in our God-knowing, truth-bearing, and growth in wisdom.
