The Kodály Approach
Students learn music best by hearing and singing it. With the Kodály approach, students learn teamwork, ear training, reading and writing music, and tuneful singing through hearing the teacher and participating in group activities. Sing for Joy uses this sound-to-symbol approach to teach students to enjoy singing for the glory of God.
“Teach music . . . in such a way that it is not a torture but a joy for the pupil; instill a thirst for finer music in him, a thirst which will last for a lifetime.” Zoltán Kodály, 1929
